Product Introduction

MPG Mono Propylene Glycol, also known as PG and MPG, is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid with a characteristic odour. This solvent is soluble in water and hygroscopic. It has low toxicity and its freezing point decreases when mixed with water, which is why it is widely used in various industries.

Features

MPG Mono Propylene Glycol is produced by direct hydration of propylene oxide and water at 150-160°C and 0.78-0.98MPa pressure. It is an important raw material for unsaturated polyester, plasticizer, and surfactant, and its usage accounts for about 45% of the total consumption of propylene glycol. This unsaturated polyester is widely used in surface coatings and reinforced plastics.

Application

1. Propylene Glycol pharmaceutical use: Industrial propylene glycol plays the role of wetting agent and dissolving agent in chemistry, so it is a main component in advanced antifreeze.
2. Paints and coatings: Since MPG Mono Propylene Glycol has a low freezing point and can be mixed with water in any proportion, it can greatly reduce the overall freezing point of the coating after it is mixed with water, thereby enhancing the antifreeze performance of the coating. So it is often used as an antifreeze in paint, so that the paint will not freeze at 0 degrees.
